CFB Chilliwack Historical Society

The Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack Historical Society (CFBCHS) gathers, maintains, and displays archives in order to help relive and remember the proud history of the "Home of the Royal Canadian Engineers/Canadian Military Engineers". Above all, "We Remember," and invite others to share the history that is being preserved by a dedicated core of members. While CFB Chilliwack was primarily focused on Engineers, numerous other hat badges were prominent on base, such as those who served at CFOCS or in all support trades. All are welcome as members and contributors as are the numerous civilian employees and all dependants.

This Web Site

This site is designed to be viewed on a wide variety of browsers and platforms. Much effort has been put into making this site accessible to a wide variety of users. However, some compromises had to be made. Here is a summary of its features and its limitations:

  • This site makes extensive use of JavaScript, and therefore requires Netscape 4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, with JavaScript enabled. Note: this site does not use cookies, nor does it track your behavior in any way.
  • The pages in this site are designed to expand and contract to fit different screen sizes. However, some of the pages will not fit on displays with resolutions of less than 800x600. Users with resolutions of 640x480 and lower will have to scroll horizontally to see the whole page
  • This site has been optimized for the visually impaired. If you have trouble reading the fine print on some pages, you can increase the font size in your browser (the option is usually found in the "View" drop-down menu or in the browser preferences). The site has also been designed to be browsed by blind users with screen readers. "Alt" text has been provided for all important images and an invisible "skip to content" link has been provided on each page.
